In which Bruce Wayne is the nation's boyfriend instead of a playboy, and his merchandising power accounts for most of Gotham's budget.
The first time, they are young and dumb, and it's Ivy's Pollen that does it. It was a mistake. It will never happen again. Second time, Jason is dead, and Bruce just needs to feel anything to know he is still alive. Third time, the Javalin is stuck in a time stasis bubble. The equivalent of two years is too long to resist. The fourth time, they're just glad to be alive. They mean more to each other than they ever thought they would, but they have duties and obligations and they can't get out. The fifth time is the worst yet. Bruce's fiance has left him. Clark's wife and son are just downstairs. This is painful, this is wrong. It needs to come to an end. Or, the 5 times Bruce and Clark had sex, and how they finally realized that they needed more.
Bruce Wayne knows, as the vigilante Batman, that the superhero Superman is also the kryptonian Kal-El. But now he knows, as the billionaire Bruce Wayne, that Superman, the superhero, might also be the journalist Clark Kent. And the journalist Clark Kent knows the billionaire Bruce Wayne, but he doesn't know that he is the vigilante, Batman. Or does he? And is Bruce even sure that his inkling that the bumbling Kansas reporter moonlights as Superman, or vice versa, is right? It's all very confusing. And the sleep-deprivation really isn't helping. But surely, a little private dinner just to figure things out can't hurt right? He's just trying to get to know Clark Kent a little better, that's it. Just a little bit.
Clark had come out of surgery not long after that. He’d looked gray, under the fluorescent lights of the clinic, and he’d leaned heavily on Bruce on the way to the Batmobile. That had been two nights ago. And now he was standing in the center of the cave fastening his cape. He turned as Bruce approached, and his face was cheerful and open. He clapped a hand on Bruce’s shoulder and held it there, that kind of casual grounding touch he was so fond of. “There you are,” he said. “Thanks for the hospitality, but I’ve got to run. There’s a huge blaze near the chemical plant, and it could get bad very quickly.” “You’re not leaving,” Bruce said, which was his first mistake.
Then, Clark’s eyes met his, and he pulled away so quickly that the sound of his retreat whipped through the air. His face, for a moment, was startlingly open, and naked grief cracked harshly through his expression like a fist shattering the surface of a frozen lake. Then, it was gone, and the slate was wiped clean as though there had been nothing but a mild smile there since the very beginning. But Bruce knew what he’d seen. “How long?” he asked. Clark’s mouth twisted. “I don’t know why I thought I’d be able to keep it from you,” he said softly. “You know me too well. Was that even five minutes?” “Clark.” Clark’s lips turned up into a smile, fracturing his face, his eyes glittering shards of lapis lazuli. “How long for what?” he asked. “For how long we were married? Or for how long it’s been since you died?”
The JLI (with Superman along for the ride) finds itself captured on a planet with a volcano that requires a sacrificial virgin.
When Superman is caught leaving Clark Kent’s apartment in the early hours of the morning, there is only one way for Clark to protect his secret identity—he has to pretend to be dating himself. Clark can cope with the ensuing stares, comments, and increased attention that follows but when Batman starts to take an interest in Clark Kent, he starts to think that maybe, he should have just revealed his identity. Written for Superbat Week 2024 Day 1 - Identity Reveal
“I suppose that finding out the nice Kansas boy is as strong as five hundred Batmans isn’t doing your mood any favors,” says Alfred.
Clark Kent has received an anonymous tip containing Jason Todd’s original autopsy, and implying Bruce Wayne had been abusing him before that. Of course, he hurries to offer his protection to the other children. Tim is thoroughly exhausted and misses being an only child. Bruce broods. [My gift for Cruria's Superbat Exchange 2019]
"You had to have known it was me. You must have! There's no way you couldn't—you've been to the bat cave! You had to walk PAST MY HOUSE! Which you have spent the majority of the last three months at!" "I'm sorry for not noticing like, ONE HOUSE, Bruce!" "IT'S A MANSION!!!!" Or, Superman is shocked to realize he's been sleeping with Batman. Bruce is even more shocked to find out that his boyfriend is dumber than he ever guessed.
The day before Christmas Eve, Scarecrow develops a new toxin that traps Bruce, Clark, and Jason in Bruce’s memories. Each have an icy relationship at best, but it seems the only way out, is through. Nothing like the past, and the winter, to make for a warmer future.
“Master Bruce, of all the things I’d ever expected to walk in on—” Alfred began, with great prejudice. “I do hope there’s a good explanation for this.” Bruce, clad in a black bathrobe, looked up from his microscope. A disembodied penis, from its place on the table, raised its head too. They appeared to regard one another then Bruce turned to shake his head at Alfred. “No.” “‘No’?” “No, I don’t have a good explanation.” Alfred paused in thought. “Well.” Bruce is politely poked in the cheek by a flying dick one night. Hijinks, and more worldbuilding than you can shake a dick at, ensue.
As he walks into the room for an interview, Bruce is not at all prepared to see Superman, in an ill-fitting suit and a pair of glasses, already waiting for him.
It's been six months since Bruce's actions led to the death of Superman. Six months, two weeks, four days. He could count it to the hour. He's handling it as well as could be expected when he finds himself in a Batcave that is unfamiliar to him, a world that is unfamiliar to him. Superman is still alive, Dick is still talking to him. The Justice League has been around for years, not months. And there is another Batman, who wants more answers than Bruce is willing to give. When Batman v Superman!Bruce ends up in the comics world, he'll have to navigate another version of himself, his family and the man he tried to kill if he wants to get home.
Bruce comes to spend a few days at the Kents' farm. Clark tries to be all things to all people. Bruce is kind of an asshole. Does any of this really need saying? Featuring: tractors, misogyny, embarrassing parents, Ikea, awkward barn sex. This story is entirely Runkirya's fault, because I haven't been able to stop thinking about a farm fic since she posted this and this. I'm posting this as individual chapters over the next few days, but it is not a work in progress; the final work is completed. You are welcome to read in the installment plan now, or wait a few days. Also, I am labeling every chapter explicit even though there may be some chapters that do not include explicit sexual content, since the work as a whole is smutty.
There's team bonding, then there's this.
There's something wrong with Clark Kent. He has to be a villain, right? A threat? He doesn't behave like a normal person, no matter how handsome or clever he may seem. (A series of suspicious encounters set during the fallout of the Grayson murders)
“God, Bruce.” Kent’s eyes were wide suddenly and goddamn sad. “Hasn’t anyone ever told you they love you before?”
Clark has been struggling with keeping his famous positive mindset. Maybe too much has happened, maybe he's become too hardened. Maybe that Captain Marvel guy shouldn't be taking up all of Batman's attention. Meanwhile, Bruce is just wondering why he has the urge to adopt a thirty-something superhero. Set in Season 1, Episode 20, "Clash" of Justice League Unlimited. A canon divergence fic where Superman doesn't destroy a city for the less fortunate, learns to handle his emotions, and Captain Marvel has no reason to quit the Justice League. (Seriously, wtf was that episode. I needed to write a happy ending version.)
“Don’t say that,” Bruce instructs gruffly. He feels a sharp lance of panic, because there’s no way to know if Clark means it differently than— than the most obvious interpretation, which is that of course they love each other. Of course they are as close as two people could possibly be, and of course a natural consequence of that bond is love. “You don’t have to. We’re not going to die.” Or: Clark is injured, and Bruce is there to see him through the recovery. Plus a little extra. Also, they're in love.
It starts with a barely there brush of shoulders. A quiet inhale of breath. A slight shiver. It's probably nothing. (It's everything.)
It's tonight. The big night. Clark is finally going to tell Bruce he's Superman and take their relationship to the next level. Absolutely nothing can ruin this. Not even Batman and his call for backup. The Bat can wait. Clark's got a date. It's tonight. The big night. Bruce is going to convince Clark he's serious about their relationship and finally go public. Nothing can stop him from sweeping Clark off his feet, not even an unexpected reconnaissance mission that needs to be done. Superman can handle it. Bruce's got a date.
He draws Clark to sitting position and pulls him close, hands on either side of his head. He feels the rise and fall of Clark’s chest against his body, and he doesn’t let go because he needs to feel it, to be sure. As Clark breathes against him, his hands find his shoulders; either in reassurance or support, it’s hard to tell. There’s a crackle over their comms, and Barry’s voice cuts through the noise around them, jarring. “Holy shit, are Batman and Superman hugging?”
When Bruce asks him to use some of the Fortress’s processing power for a chemical analysis he's working on, Clark agrees without a second thought. Why shouldn't he? Well, because neither of them know that linking the resources of Houses meant a lot more on Krypton. Or, Bruce accidentally proposes to Clark. Except they’re not even in a relationship. (...Yet?)
The staff meeting after Cat had broken her foot had involved a lot of reassigning, since she couldn’t exactly do the usual society beat with her foot in a boot. So much that Clark hadn’t really thought twice when Perry had said “and Kent, you’ll take the new Wayne foundation piece,” because sure, he liked working the philanthropy stories occasionally. It wasn’t until they’d gotten back to their desks that Lois had burst into a fit of snickering and said “oh, I would pay money to see how you’re going to handle Bruce Wayne for two weeks,” and Clark had realized how majorly screwed he was. - On a two-week assignment, Clark does his best to figure out Bruce Wayne. Bruce does his best to make sure he can't. Unfortunately, they're just too good at working together, even when they don't know it. For Superbat Week 2024, day 1: identity shenanigans.
His seven-year-old ward walks up to him. “Is Batman your boyfriend?” The incredulous splutter of “What?”, the annoyed “Why, and what motivated you to think in that direction?”, or the matter-of-fact “No” are all plausible responses. He briefly considers the benefits of Dick’s assumption. For one, his sudden disappearances, as well as Batman’s all-too-frequent appearances, can be explained by his fictional romance with the Dark Knight. All things considered, Bruce goes by “You just found out?”, and adds a smug raised eyebrow for good measure. “Wow,” Dick’s eyes gleam in excitement, and Bruce wonders what part of that knowledge warrants that giddy reaction. “With Batman? Really? That is wicked cool.”
There is a newcomer to Bruce's church. Worship can take unusual forms.
Clark's first mistake is picking up the phone without looking at the caller ID. (But he makes a few more after that—except maybe he hasn't actually made any at all.)
Bruce is sent to another universe, to another Justice League, where things are just slightly different enough to get Bruce to make terrible decisions. Clark Kent never married Lois Lane, and he is a Bruce Wayne that never married Selina Kyle.
The expression on his face is dead serious, and gives Clark the impression that there’s a hidden subtext that he’s not getting, and that he should know exactly what Bruce is referring to. Clark opens and closes his mouth to say something but no words come out. Bruce sighs with exasperation. “You’re attracted to me.” He says finally. Clark’s heart stops in his chest for a moment, dumbfounded. The back of his neck burns with embarrassment. Had he really been so obvious? And what conveyed the fact so easily? Was it when Clark couldn't keep from drooling when he stumbled upon a half-dressed Bruce covered in grease working on the Batmobile last week?
Then he took a deep breath and he changed. He ironed out every fold in his posture and his face until he looked like Superman again. His shoulders were broad, his gaze was confident, and his smile showed no sign of embarrassment or fear. It’s genuinely uncomfortable to watch. Especially since Bruce knows that change. He’s seen it in the mirror before entering parties or nightclubs. He’s always referred to it, internally, as 'putting on my better face.' The façade is his least favourite part of the day, ranking just below 'getting punched by supervillains.' The idea that Superman is just Kal's better face, that would explain a lot. It would also mean Bruce isn't alone.
Kryptonians ran hotter than humans by about 5.4 degrees, give or take a few decimal places. Clark felt like a radiator even on the bitterest of rainy nights on Gotham rooftops, a foot's distance between them; Bruce wondered if it would feel different somehow, if he pressed his hand against his chest, where his shield would lay, with intention—touch for the sake of touching. If it would feel different without the barrier of triple-weave kevlar and impenetrable alien fabric between them, stripped of the context of battle and the excuse of necessity. Bruce was, however, in possession of all his faculties and thus was sound of mind enough to create a 20-item list (organized by relevance) of all the reasons why following through on his desires would be unwise. Chiefly among said reasons was, of course, that there were approximately thirty minutes before Clark would be married to the love of his life, Lois Lane, and that Bruce would never jeopardize their happiness for something as petty as feelings that he’d failed to smother in the cradle—no matter his alleged ‘self-destructive tendencies’.
Batman breaks into Clark Kent’s apartment expecting to find something—anything—that explains how an underpaid journalist is linked to Superman. Instead, what he finds is a bachelor pad held together by sticky notes, expired protein bars, and what was almost definitely a near-fatal cleaning accident. But beneath the mess—beneath the questionable life choices—there’s something else. Something that doesn’t add up… he just had to look past the obvious fact that Kent and Superman are partners.
A collection of memories from Bruce and Clark's life together.
In which Bruce is distracted from his upcoming birthday by his tragically unrequited feelings for ace reporter Clark Kent, Kal tries his hand at matchmaking, and Dick plays Pokemon.
If there was no Batman, he would just have to create him. No matter what the cost. With the help of a Batman-inspired supercomputer that is close to the real thing (but not nearly close enough), Superman brings Batman to the world once more.
”The problem is: when you’re two people at the same time, one of them is bound to trip the other.” -Now You See Me 2
There are certain things they don't do, and kissing is one of them. Until it isn't. * [loosely based off of this prompt] Clark has a secondary sexual organ in his mouth right where the soft palate begins in a human. Consider it like a clit. I'd like 5 times Bruce/Batman made Clark come in his pants just from kissing, ranging from discovery to just for s&g. Translation to 中文 available here by iamclx!
Bruce Wayne has no problem being Matches Malone to get the job done, but sometimes his job turns out to include rescuing Clark from the various dangers of being too wholesome in Gotham at night. He's a walking trouble magnet, and of course Bruce will pull him out of trouble, so long as Clark doesn't blow his cover. Wait...Clark does know that Matches is a cover, right? Superbat Week 2024-Prompt fill for Day 4: This is a love story/this is a detective story- Damsel in Distress
The words on his skin were his everything. After everything he'd seen, done and been through, they were a reminder that Bruce Wayne still existed. That somewhere there was a person who would love him despite the coldness in his chest and the scars that roped their way across his skin. A reminder that he wasn't alone - that he wasn't destined to live forever in the shadows, silent and isolated. That somewhere out there was the other half of his soul. He just wasn't expecting the other half of his soul to be an alien.
Dick has an emotional problem and asks Bruce for advice. Because obviously, if you need help with your feelings, you go to Batman. Many thanks to amanuensis for beta duty!
Clark finds Bruce's teenage costume sketchbooks when helping to clean the Manor attic. Hijinks ensue.
The League won't say it out loud, but there are moments where even Bruce sighs, runs a hand through his hair, and thinks 'Wow. Isn't it great he's on our side?' (Written for the April Fool's Topsy Turvy event for the Superbateveryweek Server!)
Bruce has shared a bed with Clark many times before without incident. It's only recently that it's become...strange. For Bottom Bruce Wayne October day 2: somnophilia.
It takes a while for Batman and Superman to work things out, once Clark comes back from the dead. Pretending to date each other in order to explain why Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are in the same place so often? Doesn't help as much as you might think. Written as a fill for the dceu_kinkmeme prompt, summarized: Bruce/Clark, fake dating. (Full prompt in author's notes.)
There is Bruce in a Gotham summer, down to tight-fitting shirts and khaki shorts. And then there is Bruce in a Kansas summer, looking like a drowned cat for all the sweat when he sits on the porch for more than fifteen minutes. It’s the best kind of torture Clark has ever experienced.
Even with the distance between them, Clark can feel the heat roll off Batman skin, the subtle thrum of his pulse. His hands itch to reach out, to brush his fingertips over it, and he struggles to reign himself back in. Keep it under control. Clark does a serviceable job of it right up until Batman speaks up again.
Batman and Superman have been friends for years, but is it really friendship if you've been lying the whole time? It's time for Clark to find out as one realisation sends him spiraling. Bruce doesn't know why Kal-El has been avoiding him, but he's going to find out. Maybe asking around will help. Or A character study of a Bruce who got his shit together and a Clark who absolutely does not.
Working things through; or, the first kiss and what comes after. Bruce and Clark look back, and forward, and celebrate the New Year. --- For Day 363 of the Birdwatchers 365 Challenge! The word was perfect!
Clark knows he should take a break: His powers are on the fritz, he feels like shit, and Batman’s treating him like a liability. But Gotham's villains seem to have it in for Metropolis' Big Blue Boy Scout and Clark won't just wait around for answers. Batman might be the world’s greatest detective, but Clark Kent is one of the Daily Planet’s most tenacious reporters. This is definitely a job for Superman. 中文翻译链接: ******* by hachimitsu_kmk; and ??????? by Saroyamal
Clark Kent, still off-balance, charmed and confused, braves the Bats and parries the Planet. The word of the day for day 227 is aloof.
Clark attends a party at Bruce's place. Post-ep for The Batman Superman Movie: World's Finest (1998).
After a close call being exposed to sex pollen in Gotham, Batman insists that he and Superman build up a tolerance to it. It's one of the more unusual first dates Clark has heard of...
Bruce Wayne has a problem. A Clark Kent problem. A big, huge, Clark can’t-wear-his-normal-clothes-and-constantly-walks-around-in-only-a-loincloth problem, not to mention the greying hair making him seem even more―
Clark develops a crush on his not-boss, Bruce Wayne, and makes the mistake of asking Batman for dating tips. Cue Benny Hill theme music.
Clark wakes up to see Batman’s face hovering above his and his first thought is 'This must be a dream'. He wishes that the Batsuit and cowl were new features, but they really weren’t. Or: You can lie even to yourself, until you can't, and then you have to do something about it.
Superman has finally been freed from the alien influence that has been controlling his life for years, and he has some things he wants to say to Bruce.
Bruce is diagnosed with a serious illness, and Clark must watch helplessly. A multi-chapter work.
"I don’t have scars, my bones don’t ache, I don’t have wrinkles, no sunspots, not even a grey hair!” He reached up, raking through the strands, and gave it a furious yank. “I have no evidence of my life mapped out on my body.” Bruce listened helplessly. He couldn’t deny what had been said when the evidence was right in front of him. The man, no matter how enervated he was, always looked immaculate. Never a wound, never a scrape, not even a paper cut. All evidence of change, pain, growth wiped away in seconds. When they first met, Bruce was jealous of this invulnerability; later, it became a relief. He never saw it as a flaw. Couldn't fathom that it could symbolize any kind of loss. Not until now. --- Or Kal watches 'Bicentennial Man' (Not sponsored) one night, and it hits a little too close to home. Luckily, Bruce is there to help him through his nightmare. (If only his brain could catch up to the very serious conversation they were having at three in the morning.)
Clark got stuck in a machine that was supposed to use his greatest wishes against him to keep him from escaping. He just can't fathom why the machine gave him Bruce Wayne as a spouse instead of, well, someone more like Batman. Title taken from "The Alcott (feat. Taylor Swift)" by the National
The Daily Planet is invited to one of Bruce Wayne's charity balls, and Clark Kent is convinced that Wayne is Batman-- and that he's up to something. A quiet encounter outside leads to his answer and, against his better judgment, to one of Wayne's guest bedrooms.
Some of Superman’s enemies capture his closest ally in an attempt to discover a way to take him down. They learn much, much more than they ever wanted to know.
Bruce Wayne, the Justice League’s primary funder, pays a customary visit to the Watchtower. It goes about as well as expected.
“You forbade me,” Clark whispers, face twisted into an unrecognizable mask. If he hadn’t seen the transformation with his own eyes, the man in front of him might as well have been an entirely different person. “An invasion of privacy. Inappropriate. Crossing a line.” He splays a hand across Bruce’s chest, appallingly intimate. With a press of his fingers, the buttons disintegrate, leaving his chest bare. Clark’s fingers dig into his sternum, five points of fire on overheated skin. “I would have seen it,” Clark utters, wretched. His hair is mussed, eyes a dimming scarlet as the hand around Bruce’s throat tightens. “I would have seen it, you son of a bitch!” From tumblr. AKA, "what if Bruce got cancer after he told Clark to never use his x-ray vision on him? but with a happy-ish ending so tumblr doesn't kill me?"
Clark tries to do some research for a potential interview.
Beyond the onslaught of comestibles are Ma and Pa Kent. They’re seated next to each other, which isn’t traditional, and also makes this feel even more like a job interview Bruce is failing. He thinks. He’s never actually had a job interview, never mind failed at one. That may be part of the problem. “So,” he begins, a tentative foray into the awkward silence broken only by the sounds of Jonathan’s fork scraping mashed potatoes onto his plate. “How’s the, ah, harvest this year?” “Bad,” Jonathan says, and does not elaborate. -- Three visits to Smallville over a year.
Post-Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #4: Bruce and Clark come down from being fused together.
Sometimes Bruce and Clark sleep together. But they aren't lovers--right?
It wasn’t that Clark loved Bruce less, or admired him less, or had stopped being able to see all the things that had made him fall in love with Bruce in the first place. He just … didn’t want to be around him at the moment, found himself wondering what else Bruce would say to get his point across, what else he’d do to make sure Clark kept his distance.
Batman really hates Bruce Wayne. Superman isn’t so sure.
When Clark had had the idea to ask Bruce to trim the back of his hair, it had mostly been as a joke. Make Bruce see how the other half live, force him out of his cowl for about half an hour, spend time with him that isn’t poring over a grisly case file or an interplanetary sector map. He likes spending time with Bruce, but he’d thought Bruce would laugh and blow him off. Unfortunately, Bruce had said yes, and now he is standing in Clark’s apartment, his neat wool coat folded over one arm. -- Bruce cuts Clark's hair. Things get out of hand.
